About

Michael J Russo, MS

Hello, I’m Michael. I’m a music teacher, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, piano, violin, percussion, bass, banjo, ukulele, and a variety of electronic instruments. I also like to make visual art using paint, clay, and other materials.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Music, and a Master of Science degree in Music Therapy from Molloy University. As a music therapist, I provided in-person services to thousands of clients across a variety of clinical settings, including developmental and psychiatric programs, pediatric ICU, hospice care, and drug and alcohol detox and rehabilitation.

Today, I offer music lessons to students in New York City and Long Island. I have extensive experience teaching students spanning wide ranges of instruments, ages, backgrounds, and goals. Russo Music Lessons is a space for students to learn, explore, and express themselves freely as they make choices and develop musical proficiency in a way that is meaningful to them. I believe learning to make music is an experience that can help people to create deep meaning and enjoyment in their lives. I’m thankful every day for the chance to do this work, and I hope I can support you in your own journey of creative expression!
